From coast to coast

“This is the first day of my life
I swear I was born right in the doorway
I went out in the rain suddenly everything changed
They’re spreading blankets on the beach”

First Day of My Life Bright Eyes

This is the first day of my blog. Everyone says your heart will always be where you were born, implying you will always go back to your roots.

My return to California has been pinned to this concept. People that do not even know me think it is safe to make the assumption that my three year stint in New York City was in fact that, a stint. I was born and raised in Southern California and it is only natural, given, obvious that I would return, and return to eventually spend the rest of my life here.

Where my mother gave birth to me is not where I was born. Southern California is the place I physically came into this world, but it is not the place that I was born mentally, psycologically, and emotionally. New York City may not be that place either, but what I do know is I experienced more in my three years in New York City than most people do their entire lives. Right now, I am in a state of utter confusion, unrest, and internal conflict, but life is a constant battle of self discovery that needs to be embraced.

I dare you to embrace my “real time” narrations, recounts, contemplations, and straight up ridiculosities.

Who said it has to be the United States’ coast…
